Living Stones

Living Stones began as a Bible study in 1998 with the intention of bringing Jesus to people that did not want to go to church. Many people encountered the transformative power of God in this Bible study and began to invite their friends. In the early 2000s Living Stones grew to a point where it became a church, and since then has multiplied to 8 churches in Northern Nevada. These churches share a common vision, philosophy and brotherhood like a big family. Our desire is still the same as it was in the beginning. We know that people are searching for happiness, fulfillment, and purpose. We also know that those longings are only fully met in Christ. Therefore, we exist to help people find what their souls are looking for… the true and living Jesus.

This full-time staff position is for Living Stones Reno. The Reno church is located in the heart of Midtown. It is surrounded by art, eateries, diversity of many kinds, commerce, and grit. In fact, right across the street from the church is a strip club. Most people are unfamiliar with the Bible and do not care about the real Jesus. In 2017, Pew research declared Reno as the second most unchurched place in the United States. Since Covid, more churches have closed than opened. This means that Living Stones is on the front lines of the mission field. If making disciples in an unchurched and spiritually desperate place sounds exciting, this job is for you.

What's it like living in Reno?

Many associate Reno with Las Vegas but it is quite different. Las Vegas is 9 hours away at the southern and barren part of Nevada. Reno is in Northern Nevada and is surrounded by mountains and has a population of approximately 500,000 people. We enjoy four seasons of weather and there are many outdoor activities. Lake Tahoe and many ski resorts are 45 minutes away and San Francisco is only a 4 hour drive. The city itself is known as the “Biggest Little City In The World.” It is big enough where there are fun things to do and go, and small enough where it does not take more than 20 minutes to drive across town. It is rapidly growing due to large businesses like Amazon, Tesla, Google, Panasonic, and Microsoft. The University of Nevada has 25,000 undergraduate students and a beautiful campus. Many people move to Reno for school or work and decide to stay because it is such a great place to live.

Volunteer Worship Leaders

Florida Nasategay

"I love how we incorporate different styles of music and languages to worship God. On top of that, everyone is encouraged to grow in their faith and skills as we all learn from each other."

Kyle Riemenschnitter

"I value the environment and freedom Living Stones creates for us to worship in spirit and in truth. Nothing about the Sunday worship gathering is a show or a performance, it is all about worshiping our King."

Aquilla Brand

"Worship at Living Stones reminds me that it is not about us but it is all about JESUS. Leading people into intimacy with a Holy God is a great honor and responsibility."

JR Green

"I appreciate the encouragement to serve and lead as a group. It's commendable how our leaders delegate portions of songs for others to take the lead, it truly enhances the group dynamic."
