The church is Irrelevant

Your thoughts exactly?

Who cares what the church thinks? Scientific endeavor and intellectual progress have brought us far beyond what the church ever could.

Right?

Yet unjustified wars still rage. Political upheaval looms. Economic fragility creeps into our homes. Injustice prevails. And death still arrives.

We know that, one day, we're going to face our Creator.

The church is the only community able to equip you to face God. Because the church is where God is at work to reconcile us to Himself.

Think about it...

The church is Dangerous

Does this resonate with you?

You've heard it before.
"All are welcome!"

Come to find out, it's a bait and switch.

Instead, you're welcome if you agree and behave.
The church is more like an echo chamber composed of power-hungry self-preservers. It's a toxic community of condemnation and abuse dressed in the language of love.

The church isn't safe; the church is dangerous

Your perspective makes sense.

Yet there is hope. In the face of the pride, abuse, and corruption found in the church, God brings justice, grace, and healing.

No one gets away with anything.
Either Jesus died for that sin, or those individuals face God with that sin hanging over them.

What wouldn't make sense is to leave the one community that is built upon Jesus - who He is, what He taught, what He's done, and what He's promised.

Resources for those hurt by the church

The church is Necessary

The recipient of and vehicle for God's redemption.

If Jesus loves the church enough to give His own life for it, and it's the very community where He places those for whom He died, then the church is necessary.

The church is where God gathers His beloved children to love, nurture, instruct, discipline, and give refuge.

The church is where the true gospel is held high, protected, and passed on.

In the church, the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is given to undeserving sinners.

To a weary and disillusioned world, God gives the church, and it is Jesus - God in the flesh - who is the very foundation of that gift. To disregard the church, then, is to disregard the only hope any of us have.
