In 2010, Living Stones moved into our current building on Virginia Street. We wanted to see Northern Nevada transformed and knew the only way transformation would happen would be if we reached the heart of Reno. Our rally cry was inspired by Jeremiah 29:5-11 in which God tells his people to establish roots, seek the welfare of their city, and pray to the Lord on its behalf. From that point forward, Living Stones was committed to being “In the City, For the City.”
We are humbled and glad to say that the transformation we dreamed about has begun to happen. Hundreds and hundreds have met Christ and committed their life to follow him. Living Stones has multiplied from one church to nine across Northern Nevada! We’ve partnered with other nonprofits to clean up the streets, provide transitional housing, and care for families in need. We have also joined forces with other Midtown businesses to make Midtown a desirable place of culture, art, music, and food. An area that used to be known for drugs and sex shops is now known for beauty and entertainment. But the work is not finished.
City-wide transformation takes decades, and if we want to continue seeing God change Reno in our generation and the next, we feel that it is wise and necessary to purchase property and establish roots for the long haul. This year, we are beginning a two-and-a-half-year journey to raise the money needed to purchase property (preferably our current property) in the heart of Reno. I Pray that God moves your heart to join and sacrifice FOR THE CITY in this eternally worthy and vital cause.
