Whose you are defines who you are.

God rescued Israel from slavery, but at Mount Sinai He invites them into something more: to know Him, belong to Him, and become His treasured possession. The people who had once belonged to Pharaoh would now be called a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Their identity—and the way they lived—would be shaped by the God to whom they belonged.

But there was a problem. God is holy, and sinful people cannot simply enter His presence. At Sinai, Israel was called to draw near while still keeping their distance. God’s glory was among them, but they could not yet fully approach Him.

In Jesus, we see something greater. The holy God draws near to us, and Christ bears the consequence of our sin so that we can live in God’s presence. Through Jesus, we become what Israel was called to be: a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s own possession. We don't earn this identity through holiness; we are called to live holy lives because we belong to Him.

Whose you are defines who you are—and belonging to Jesus changes how we live.
