Sparks Missions

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” –Romans 10:14–15

Living Stones Sparks Church is engaged in missions locally and globally.  While we are a community seeking a fundamental shift in the spiritual climate of Northern Nevada, we are also a part of the bigger story that is God's plan to bring redemption to all peoples.  As members of Living Stones Sparks, we are inviting outsiders to become insiders, disciples to make disciples, unified in diversity, in the city for the city, and a church planting churches.  These identifying values drive us to go out into the world to tell the good news and dignify others that were created in His image.

In the fall of 2022, LS Sparks will be sending a team of 8 people to travel to Antigua, Guatemala and surrounding areas on behalf of Sparks, Nevada and ultimately Jesus Christ. The goal is to serve the people in the areas of education, repair, and health while showing dignity and sharing the gospel.  This ranges from building a chicken coop to teaching how to wash hands properly.  It is not just another short term trip, it is the first in what is being envisioned as a long and active relationship between Guatemala and Sparks!
Did you know that our member, Angela has been living in Guatemala since 2017?  Did you know that almost half of all people in Guatemala live in poverty and, the poverty rate rises to nearly 80 percent for indigenous people, who make up more than 40 percent of the country's population?  Did you know that there are people in Guatemala who have not heard the Gospel?
We are dedicated to a relationship with Guatemala that is sustainable, scalable, and responsible.  For more information on the plans for the mission to Guatemala, please read this article.
Get Involved!
There are several ways to get involved with the Fall 2022 Guatemala Trip:
  • Pray!  Or as Mal put it, "Pray, pray, pray!"  We would love your dedication and consistency in praying.  Here is a brief guide:
    • The natural elements - earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and mudslides are common in Guatemala!  Pray for God’s mercy.
    • Impoverished families - healing from brokenness, alcoholism, extreme poverty, breaking chains of generation sin and pain.
    • The newly purchased land – provides community engagement and allows for people to be financially independent, and also provides much more nutrition than the staple food.
    • Poverty stricken villages - Sumpango (where the new land is), Ciudad Vieja, San Lucas, La Gomera, Antigua (where Revive and Angela live)
    • Angela and Revive – create opportunities for discipleship, relationships with pastors in remote or poverty stricken Villages, to be strong and encouraged.  The founder of Revive, Omar, is currently healing from an eye condition that has put him on bed rest - please pray for healing and his patience to heal.
    • The fall trip - fundraising, team building, mutual trust, education, safety, effectiveness when we go.
    • Our selves – to move us and break our hearts for those that we can serve in Guatemala, to have a Christlike view of Guatemala

It's hard to believe that the Republic of Ireland is the reached by the Gospel less than any other English speaking country in the world.  In response to this, LS Sparks is engaged in church planting in Ireland right now!

Not only are we assisting financially, but also through resources, shepherding, and of course prayer.

Sepulveda Elementary School

We are so blessed by our relationship with Sepulveda Elementary School.   The generous hearts of our members at the church allow us to bless so many families of the school each year!

Because of the members' generosity we have provided meals, computers, and love to the school.  We serve them each year over the holiday season and we are praying for more opportunities to serve the school, the teachers and staff, and the students.
