Helping the Vulnerable During a Global Pandemic

The modern world has never been more aware of the need for proper hygiene than in 2020. We have come face to face with the reality that we are incredibly vulnerable, even to the most microscopic organisms. In this way, the modern world has joined the developing world: the basic awareness, education, and access to clean water we’ve taken for granted are now much more significant. We are now globally united by our need for clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene.

But imagine what it is like to live through a global pandemic with no awareness of proper sanitation and hygiene, or access to a sink where you can wash your hands.

This is where Living Water International’s strategy for helping people shines. When LWI partners with a local community, they are not simply drilling and installing a new well or providing repairs to an existing well, they are equipping an entire community with life-saving, life-preserving education, techniques, and tools for proper sanitation and hygiene. When we give to LWI, we are giving water, sanitation, and life.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Living Water has redoubled on efforts to help vulnerable communities by:

  • Mobilizing churches and communities to limit the spread of disease
  • Improving water supply and handwashing facilities in vulnerable communities and healthcare facilities
  • Promoting infection prevention and control through public information campaigns
  • Distributing hygiene supplies and personal protective equipment to communities and health care facilities.
