Drawn Out

Apr 26, 2026    Pastor Josh LaGrone

This exploration of Exodus 2 reveals a transformative truth: God's redemption requires us to be drawn out of our self-reliance and into complete dependence on Him. We journey with Moses from his miraculous preservation as an infant to his failed attempt at being a savior through his own strength. The message confronts our tendency to see ourselves as the main characters in our salvation story, when in reality, we are assistants to God's greater plan. Moses spent forty years in Pharaoh's palace and another forty years in exile, all because he tried to redeem his people through murder rather than waiting on God's timing. This narrative challenges us to examine what false heroes we've erected in our lives—our status, our homes, our abilities—and invites us to let God strip away everything that gives us a false sense of security. The beauty of this message lies in its honesty about suffering: God doesn't promise immediate deliverance from every hardship, but He does promise His presence and ultimate redemption. Like Moses being drawn from the water, we are called to be drawn out of our comfort zones, our sinful patterns, and our self-sufficiency so that God's glory can shine through our weakness. The gospel requires only repentance and faith; obedience flows naturally from these, not as a means to earn salvation but as fruit of genuine transformation.
