Disciples Making Disciples

Aug 23, 2026    Mark South

Pastor Mark continues Living Stones’ “This Is Us” series with the call for disciples to make disciples. From Paul’s return to the city where he was stoned, his repeated proclamation of the gospel, his strengthening of believers through tribulation, and his appointment of elders, Mark shows that disciple-making is ordinary “garden work” rather than impressive “cathedral work.” It is one of the greatest ways to spend a life, makes Jesus unmistakable and unavoidable in everyday relationships, returns continually to the gospel, and takes a church where people are known, strengthened, and encouraged to persevere. Because discipleship is cross-shaped, Jesus does not promise an easy life, but he does promise his presence; wherever God plants us, we are called to follow Christ, help others follow him, and make Jesus the hero of our story.
