Jesus' Priorities

Feb 14, 2021    Mark South

Because the Gospel of Mark is theological history rather than a modern biography of Jesus,
events aren’t always ordered chronologically; instead, Mark often puts similar events or topics
together in sections. In this week’s passage, we are told of more instances of Jesus healing and
conquering demons. The difference here, though, is seen in the fact that Jesus’ ministry has
reached many more people, individuals who may have been thrust aside in their neighborhoods and families due to their sicknesses and demonic oppression. Jesus, however, displays the glorious kingdom of God by giving healing and freedom to many people.
After performing these powerful healings, Jesus takes His disciples outside of Capernaum so that He can preach throughout the area of Galilee.
