The Glory of the Cross
In this sermon Pastor John Wolfe teaches from John 17 that the cross is not a detour from God’s glory but its clearest display, because in Christ’s high priestly prayer Jesus reveals that eternal life is knowing God and that God is glorified in the salvation, keeping, sanctification, unity, and final glorification of His people. Moving through Jesus’ prayer alongside passages such as Ephesians 1:5–6, John 6:37–44, Romans 12:2, Philippians 1:29, and 1 Peter 2:21 and 5:10, the sermon calls the church to see the cross as the supreme revelation of God’s character, trust Christ to preserve His people, be transformed by His Word, love the family of God, and endure suffering in hope of the glory still to come.
